Description

C3 FURTHER, FASTER

The C Series’ more value-conscious endurance model is the perfect fit for serious cyclists looking to get off the asphalt and extend their seasons. The C3’s increased tire clearance, a lower bottom bracket and longer chainstays inspire confidence on mixed surfaces while delivering a longer, more comfortable day in the saddle. Speaking of confidence, the C3’s top-of-the-line disc brakes deliver exceptional control without sacrificing performance.

PREMIUM ENDURANCE FRAME - PREMIUM FEATURES

The C3’s fit and handling are both products of an innovative new endurance frame geometry.

ENGINEERED TO ENDURE

The C3 is engineered to extend your season and help you go further, faster.

ENDURANCE-CENTRED SIZE AND SPEC

A high-performance endurance road bike wouldn’t be complete without industry-leading components and a fit that inspires confidence wherever the ride takes you.

C3 ENGINEERING

Rider confidence can’t be measured in a laboratory or wind tunnel. Cervélo is renowned for its engineering-driven approach to building the world’s fastest and lightest road, track, triathlon and time-trial bicycles, but the success of the C3 won’t be measured in WorldTour victories or Olympic gold medals. Rather, our engineering team used its profound understanding of pro athletes’ bicycle requirements to skillfully balance performance with ride quality.

RIDE QUALITY

The C3’s innovative endurance fit is ideal for long, confidence-boosting rides. Increasing fork and stack length allows for a more upright riding position and a decrease in stand-over height. Confidence is also about controlling speed, which is why the C3 incorporates the latest disc-brake technologies, such as the flat-mount standard and through-axles, to enhance safety, drive-train alignment and performance.

STIFFNESS

A single-piece rear triangle and wide curved seatstays boost back-end and bottom-bracket stiffness, while through-axles improve lateral stiffness in the disc-specific fork. This bike is stiff where it needs to be, but also comfortingly compliant for those long days in the saddle.

USABILITY

Longer chainstays add trail-balance handling at the front end and boost tire clearance to 32mm, providing room for a standard fender and mount. A downtube rock guard and chainstay protector help prevent potential damage on mixed surfaces, while future-proof internal cable routing delivers smooth shifting every time.

BBRIGHT

THIS ASYMMETRICAL 79MM BOTTOM-BRACKET STANDARD YIELDS STIFFER AND LIGHTER FRAMES AND CRANK SYSTEMS.

Cervelo developed BBright to take advantage of the fact that oversized frame tubes are stiffer and lighter. On the right side, frame tubes are already as wide as possible; any wider and they’d hit the chainrings. But on the left side there are no chainrings, so BBright makes use of this extra space by extending the BB shell by 11 millimetres, nearly doubling the width of the left chainstay. At the same time, the drive-side dimensions of the frame are identical to BB30 and provide plenty of clearance for a wide range of cranks, including those with power meters.

FUTURE-PROOF CABLE MANAGEMENT

ENSURES YOUR FRAME IS COMPATIBLE WITH ALL CURRENT AND FUTURE DERAILLEUR AND BRAKE SYSTEMS.

Future-Proof Cable Management achieves compatibility across mechanical, electronic and hydraulic brake and derailleur systems. Future-Proof frames include interchangeable cable stops that snap into place and are easily swapped out by hand to accommodate upgrades. You can buy with confidence, knowing your bike is easily upgradable and can be enjoyed with the latest technology for years to come.

CARBON DROPOUTS

TOUGH, COMPRESSION-MOLDED DROPOUTS SAVE WEIGHT WITH NO SACRIFICE IN STRENGTH COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL METAL DROPOUTS.

Seatstays and chainstays are bonded into hollow dropouts, instead of the other way around. Bonding these precision-moulded surfaces reduces weight, and gives the internal rear derailleur cable a straight shot through the chainstay and dropout, eliminating bends and cable friction.

EVOLVED STEERER DESIGN

THE FORK STEERER’S DIAMETER HAS A NOTICEABLE EFFECT ON A BIKE’S HANDLING. EVOLVED STEERER DESIGN APPLIES THE DIAMETERS AND TAPER DESIGNS THAT BEST SUIT EACH MODEL.

A larger steerer diameter adds torsional stiffness with no weight penalty. A smaller steerer diameter is more compliant and can also be used to reduce headtube frontal area, and in turn, aerodynamic drag. How do we select which size to use? By defining performance goals — weight savings, aerodynamics, stiffness, ride quality and usability — at the start of the frame design process, Cervélo engineers choose the best steerer diameters/tapers to achieve those objectives.

REDUCED-FRICTION BB GUIDE

SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES CABLE FRICTION IN THE BOTTOM BRACKET, WHICH MEANS SMOOTHER SHIFTING, EASIER SETUP AND LONGER SERVICE INTERVALS.

The Reduced-Friction BB Guide maintains a consistent curve for each cable path by avoiding bends or kinks.

SQUOVAL

THIS LIBRARY OF TUBE SHAPES ALLOWS CERVELO ENGINEERS TO “DIAL IN” THE WEIGHT-SAVING, AERO, STIFFNESS AND COMPLIANCE PROPERTIES THAT BEST SUIT SPECIFIC AREAS OF A FRAME.

Square shapes resist bending the best, while round shapes are tops when it comes to torsion. Since different frame tubes see a variable mix of bending and torsional loads, a careful combination of these shapes can offer the best of both worlds. Enter Squoval, which combines the attributes of a square and an oval to achieve an ideal balance of stiffness, weight and aerodynamics.

ENDURANCE-ORIENTED SIZING

Moving the bottom bracket closer to the ground lowers the bike’s centre of gravity, improving stability and handling. Longer chainstays, a shallower headtube angle and additional fork rake increase trail and boost tire clearance, allowing for a wider range of tire sizes and room for a fender. All of this also produces a very stable, smooth and reliable ride.
